The Alexander County Board of Elections will conduct a sample audit count for the November 8, 2022 General Election on Monday November 14 2022 beginning at 9:30am at the Board of Elections office located at 370 1st Avenue SW in Taylorsville.
The sample audit count is open to the public.
What is a sample audit count?
The sample audit count is a test to ensure voting equipment read the voters choices accurately. It compares the machine counts with hand to eye counts conducted by a bipartisan team of election officials in randomly selected voting sites. The NC State Board of Elections assigned the US Senate contest to be counted in two randomly selected samples.
Selected ballots are hand counted by a bipartisan team of four election officials, two registered Democrats and two registered Republicans. The hand-counted results are compared to the tabulated results and any variances are noted.
