Another Suspect Captured In Connection With Statesville Drive-By Murder

A suspect wanted in connection with the death of one child and the shooting of another is now in custody.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year old Donnell Tiaijan Ellison on Thursday and charged him with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm into occupied property and conspiracy. The shootings happened on June 28th in Statesville . 8-year-old Ah’Miyahh Howell died as the result of the “drive-by shooting.” A 7-year old boy was shot a short time later in the same area.

Ellison’s arrest is the sixth linked to the shootings. Nasir Cor’lee Turner, 18, of Mooresville, Sayqwon Kalil Miller, 19, of Statesville and a juvenile on July 9. Two more juveniles were arrested on July 10.
Turner, Miller and Ellison are being held without bond.

Statesville Police are still seeking suspects involved with the shootings, which involved a white Mercedes in the first and white Honda Accord in the second.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting of the boy who is recovering from his injuries.
