Two Alexander County schools were on “Code Down” status this morning but the all clear has been issued. It appears the situation was the result of a system malfunction according to Taylorsville Police Chief Dennis James. No students were ever in danger and the procedures used in such situations were performed in an outstanding fashion according to Alexander Central High School Principal Gordon Palmer.
East Alexander Middle School was also placed on “Code Down” status as well as a precautionary measure.

Unrelated to the alarm malfunction, one ACHS student was found in possession of pocket knife and a single bullet (NO GUN)…That issue is under investigation…
