Alexander County Woman Charged With Statutory Rape Scheduled For Court Today

An update on the Alexander County woman charged last week with felony statutory rape.

43-year-old Kira Leanne Boyd of Union Grove, appeared before a judge last Thursday and was granted a $1 million bond. She also waived her right to be assigned counsel and remains in custody.

Boyd has another court appearance scheduled for today in Taylorsville.

Last Wednesday April 8th, Boyd was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. She is charged with:

Felony statutory rape of a child 15 or younger
Felony indecent liberties with a child
Felony statutory sex offense with a person who is 13,14 or 15 years old
Misdemeanor contributing to delinquency of a juvenile

According to Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell, the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
