STONY POINT- On Tuesday, April 14th, at approximately 10:43 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on Midway Road near Storm Lane, in Iredell County. A 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle was traveling west on Midway Road, drove off the road to the left and collided with a fence before overturning and ejecting the operator.
The operator of the Honda, Caleb Seth Pender, 32, of Statesville succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to an area hospital.
The initial investigation determined speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.
While Troopers conducted the on-scene investigation, Midway Road was closed for one hour.
