On Monday June 12, Officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and The Taylorsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 127 in the Bethlehem Community. As a result of the traffic stop, Officers seized methamphetamine, 58 grams of Fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. Kevin Vang, Jim Vang, and Matthew Yang were arrested and transported to the Detention Center. Later that night, a search warrant was issued and executed at an address on T and D Ln, off of Telephone Exchange Road, in Bethlehem. As a result of the search warrant, Officers seized the following items: 34.8 grams of Fentanyl, assorted drug paraphernalia, 5 various firearms, one assault rifle with a short barrel and full automatic, one 9mm pistol with a full auto switch (ghost gun), 40 caliber pistol that was stolen from Wilkes County, assorted gun parts to make weapons fully automatic, a quantity of cash, computers and 3D printers, and a bullet proof vest. Two occupants of the home, Samantha Lynn Rose and Ethan Trent Roten, were arrested and transported to the Detention Center.

Kevin Vang, age 33 of Polkton, North Carolina was charged with felony possession of scheduled II controlled substance, two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, maintain veh/dwell/place for controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vang is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a $250,000 secured bond and a court appearance scheduled for 6/26/2023. Jim Vang, age 38 of Conover, was charged with felony possession of scheduled II controlled substance, two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, maintain veh/dwell/place of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vang is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a $250,000 secured bond and a court appearance scheduled for 6/26/2023. Matthew Yang, age 39 of Newton, was charged with felony possession of scheduled II controlled substance, two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, maintain veh/dwell/place of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Yang is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a $250,000 secured bond and court appearance scheduled for 6/26/2023. Samantha Lynn Rose, age 36 of Newton, was charged with felony possession of scheduled II controlled substance and resisting a public officer. Rose is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a $10,000 secured bond and a court appearance scheduled for 6/26/2023. Ethan Trent Roten, age 22 of Taylorsville, was charged with eight counts of possession of firearm by felon, trafficking opium or heroin, possession of stolen firearm, maintain veh/dwell/place of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer, and two counts of possessing weapons of mass destruction.
