The Alexander County Health Department announced Friday, they have counted two more COVID-19 deaths. 115 county citizens have died with COVID associated symptoms since the beginning of the pandemic. There have been 8 deaths reported this week in the county. 18 new cases of the virus was reported on Friday.
At this time the Alexander County Health Department is scheduling appointments for the Pfizer vaccine for persons age 12 and older and the Moderna vaccine for persons age 18 and older. The Health Department is also providing third-doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to fully vaccinated persons who are moderately to severely immunocompromised according to CDC guidelines. For those who are interested in a booster and are not immunocompromised, we are waiting for the CDC to vote on the FDA’s recommendations for Pfizer-only recipients 65 & older, healthcare workers/at high risk of occupational exposure, &/or have high risk for severe Covid to receive a booster at least 6 months after their second Pfizer dose. We have not been given authorization to administer those booster vaccines at this time.
