Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 32-year old Mathew Douglas Roop of Taylorsville in the pre-dawn hours on Monday. Following a report of a suspicious vehicle, deputies found Roop, the operator of the vehicle near Dusty Ridge Park. He was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains as of earlier today in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $5,000. A May 8th court date is scheduled. Roop also has a pending charge of assault on a female scheduled for court on May 16th.
