Hiddenite Fire Department Chief Scott Mitchell uses tools to open the prop door
Alexander County Fire Departments now have another tool to take training to the next level. In the Spring of this year, the Emergency Services Training Center was officially christened, thanks to the commitment of the Alexander County Board of Commissioners.
On Wednesday, September 24, a forcible entry prop door was delivered by 13-35 LLC. The Salisbury-based business is led by father Don and two sons, Chris and Cody, who are all active professional firefighters. Along with the prop itself, firefighters received a brief refresher on techniques, tools, and mechanics.
Several more props and implements are planned to expand the training center’s capabilities, including ventilation, mayday, confined space, and more.
Along with several firefighters from multiple fire departments, members of the Alexander County Fire Marshal’s Office, Emergency Management, and Catawba Valley Community College participated in the training event.
The public is reminded that Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11.
