As of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the Alexander County Health Department has reported that 185 people are in quarantine with COVID-19.
Twelve (12) people are in the hospital.
There have been nine (9) deaths associated with the virus.
Of the 788 total cases, 582 people have recovered.
Due to COVID-19 exposure, three county facilities are temporarily closed to the public. The Alexander County Library’s main branch and Stony Point branch are currently closed, as well as the license plate agency on Main Avenue. The facilities have been deep cleaned and will reopen when it is safe for our employees and citizens.
Alexander County has experienced a spike of positive cases in October, so it is very important for everyone to be safe by wearing a cloth face covering when in public, maintaining social distance of at least six feet, and practicing good handwashing.
