A woman apparently attempted to start a fire inside a Hickory WalMart store around 8am Friday.

Hickory Police responded to the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. Highway 70 after report of a female attempting to set a shopping cart on fire in the sporting goods section of the store. She allegedly used kerosene in her effort. Police say she was not successful at starting the fire.

Officers transported the woman from the scene to an area hospital for evaluation. Her name has not been released.
