Alexander County COVID-19 Cases Soar In Thursday Report

Alexander County COVID-19 cases increased by 120 in the Thursday report from the Alexander County Heath Department ! 120 is the largest one-day increase on record in the county.

Alexander County Public Health provides Covid-19 vaccinations for our citizens.

At this time the Alexander County Health Department is scheduling:
– first & second dose appointments for the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5-11 & for youth & adults ages 12 & older; as well as the Moderna vaccine for adults age 18 & older
– Pfizer booster vaccines for persons age 12 & over who had both doses of Pfizer vaccine at least 5 months ago
– Pfizer or Moderna booster vaccines for persons age 18 & over who had both doses of Pfizer vaccine at least 5 months ago
– Moderna or Pfizer booster vaccines for persons age 18 & over who had both doses of Moderna (or 1 dose each of Moderna & Pfizer vaccine (in either order) at least 6 months ago
– Pfizer or Moderna booster vaccines for persons age 18 & over who had their initial Janssen/J&J vaccine at least 2 months ago

We continue to schedule 3rd/immunocompromised doses of the Pfizer (5 & over) & Moderna vaccines (18 & over) for those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised according to CDC guidelines and who received their 2nd dose of Covid vaccine at least 28 days ago. We also schedule boosters for these patients (16 & over) at least 6 months after their 3rd doses. Those age 16-17 must receive the Pfizer booster.

We do not have the Janssen/J&J vaccine but those who meet criteria and are interested in receiving it are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or local pharmacy.
