Alexander County Continues To Offer Reduced Water Tap Fee Through October

August 17, 2023 By Richard C. Gilbert

Alexander County Government will continue to offer reduced water tap fees for new connections through October 31, 2023. The county is offering the reduced fee of $1,695 to help citizens and businesses connect to the recently expanded county water system.

Once the discount expires at the end of October, connections will cost the $1,695 capacity fee and the $2,300 tap fee, for a total of $3,995. Water connections may not be purchased for future use and immediate connection is required.

Those who are interested in tapping onto the Alexander County water system must complete a tap application at the City of Hickory Water Department, located at 76 North Center Street in Hickory (Hickory City Hall). The capacity fee may be paid via check or cash. For more information, contact the City of Hickory at (828) 323-7427.
