The Alexander County Board of Commissioners approved the budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year at their meeting Monday evening. The budget was approved 4-1 by the board with Commissioner Kent Herman voting against the proposal.
The budget will lower the property tax rate from 79 cents per $100 valuation to 67 cents. Most county property tax values increased in the last year as the state mandated revaluation was completed.
