Taylorsville: A Thursday night cruise for the Alexander Central Women in blasting East Burke. AC never tailed and led by as many as 35 in the third quarter. Malayah Adams topped the Alexander Central scoring with 13 and Ava Head added 11 as the Lady Cougars improve to 8-0. The visitors from Burke County was led by Sarabeth Bradley’s 10. The Cavs drop to 5-4.

AC trailed after the opening period 25-20 but exploded in the second quarter and led 44-33 at half. The Cougars feasted on Cavalier turnovers forcing 21, leading to 24 points. Koa Mikeal had a career best 27 (7 of 9 from distance) for ACHS. Noah VanBeurden added 17, Jaheim Redmond pitched in 15 and Kade Flowers contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds. Carter Bennett led East Burke who drops to 1-8 with 19. The victory improves the Cougars to 4-3.
