Alexander Central Softball Wins,To Set Up Title Tilt Against South South Caldwell

The Lady Cougars held a 2-1 lead before plating 6 runs in the 3rd inning to put away Ashe County on Wednesday in Taylorsville.

Faith Carrigan earned the win going 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. She struck out 12. Carrigan homered and knocked in two runs at the plate. Kenzie Church, Kirstyn Herman and Abby Teague also hit rountrippers for Alexander Central.

The Cougars are 21-2 and will face South Caldwell in the Tournament Championship on Thursday. South beat Hibriten 5-1. The two teams split regular season games. The winner this evening will not only get the conference tournament title but will also earn one of the top seeds in the state tournament which will begin next week.

Game time at Central Park in Taylorsville is 6pm.
