Alexander Central Softball Beats McDowell

The Lady Cougars scored 4 times in the first in Marion and rode the arm and bat of Faith Carrigan to victory. The game between former conference foes featured a pair of homers by the Cougars in the opening frame. Carrigan hit a two-run shot and Kenzie Church added a solo round-tripper. Before the inning was over, Laney Wike picked up an rbi as well.

Carrigan allowed 1 run on 4 hits, she struck-out 13, Alexander Central is 16-1 and will host Watauga today in a Northwestern Conference game at Central Park.

McDowell drops to 9-6.

Macy Law pitched a no-hitter for ACHS. She fanned 11 batters and allowed only 1 walk. Law drove-in a pair of runs. Kaylin Marlowe went 3-4 and scored twice.
