Alexander Central Men Get Win, Lady Cougars Take Loss Friday Night

Alexander Central split a pair of basketball games on Friday. The Varsity women played at Freedom and the Men hosted South Caldwell.

Women

Freedom 68
Alexander Central 51

The Lady Patriots remained undefeated with a win in Morganton. ACHS trailed by only 5 at the half but Freedom pulled away after the break. Mikki Hagy led the Lady Cougars with 21 points and 9 rebounds, Gracie Harrington added 12 points. With the loss, the Lady Cougars fall to 7-3 overall and 5-3 in Northwestern Conference play.

Alexander Central’s women will travel to Marion today for a game against McDowell at 1pm

Men

Alexander Central 45
South Caldwell 35

The home standing Cougars never trailed in a game between conference foes that was played as a non-league game. Avery Cook paced AC with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Evan Presnell chipped in 12 points as the Cougars improve to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
