Watauga led from tip to buzzer. Kate Sears led the Lady Pioneers with 21 points in a game where Watauga led 16-7 after the opening period. Alexander Central was paced by Sydney Hayes with 13 and Kirstyn Herman with 12. Alexander Central went 3 of 3 from the line but the host team went to the stripe 21 times and made 14. Watauga leads the Northwestern Conference at 6-1 and 16-5 overall. AC falls to 3-4 and 17-4.

It was a must win for the Cougars and they got it. The game featured four ties and five lead changes. Chad Lasher’s basket with less than a second won the game for AC. Avery Cook led the Blue and Gold with 13 points. Chad Lasher was the top rebounder with 12 to go with his 4 points. Maddox Greene led the Pioneers with 14, Alexander Central goes to 5-2 in conference play and 14-6 on the season. Watauga slides to 4-3 and 10-11.
