After Fatal Shooting Earlier In Day, More Gunfire Reported In Hickory

A second shooting incident has been reported in Hickory.

Following a fatal shooting around 3am, another shooting was reported shortly after 10 am in the 200 block of Third Avenue SE.

Multiple shots were fired striking at least two vehicles. Hickory Police say the vehicle owners are not being cooperative with the investigation. No injuries were reported.

The first shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Lenoir Rhyne Boulevard. Eric Rhynhart, 42, and Khalil Rhynhart, 20, were shot while driving on the road. The car crashed on Highland Avenue. Eric Rhynhart was taken to an area hospital and Khalil Rhynhart died as the result of the shooting.

Hickory Police have not ruled out the two incidents as being related.
