Boone: Malayah Adams put back a shot at the buzzer the in second-overtime and Alexander Central escaped a furious upset bid by the host Lady Pioneers.
Watauga, down 8 points put on a 4th quarter rally to force overtime. The teams were still knotted after the initial extra period.
Adams, one of the shortest players on the court, put back a rebound as time expired for the victory. The senior guard led AC with 23 points including 9 of 10 from the free-throw stripe. Faith Burch had 11 as did Addie Jack. Watauga (13-12) got 23 points from Mia Mitchell.
Alexander Central (22-2) will play McDowell Friday night in the Conference Championship game in Boone.
