The 86th death associated with COVID-19 symptoms was reported on Tuesday by the Alexander County Health Department. No details were available on the latest reported death.
The number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic in the county is listed at 4,296 which represents an increase of 3 cases from the count at 5pm Monday. There have been 108 confirmed cases in the last 14 days and 50 confirmed cases in the last seven days.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, five people were in the hospital with COVID-19 associated symptoms.
The health department continues to test on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning at 10:00 a.m., but is transitioning to an appointment system instead of a drive-thru. The health department has conducted 2,233 COVID-19 tests.
The health department has administered 11,880 doses of the vaccine. The NCDHHS COVID-19 dashboard shows that 10,531 citizens have received their first dose and 8,227 have received both doses.
