Catawba County Man Jailed For Meth Trafficking

38-year-old Darren Dwayne Hollar of Bert Drive in Catawba was arrested Thursday (June 17) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with three counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, four counts of maintain a vehicle, dwelling or place to keep controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver meth, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

On Friday, June 4, 2021, Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and State Agents executed a search warrant at an automotive repair business on Bert Drive in Catawba. During that search Investigators reportedly found and seized 55 grams of meth, eight grams of marijuana, five grams of marijuana wax, a shotgun with an illegally shortened barrel, a stolen firearm, two stolen vehicles and two stolen trailers.

Darren Dwayne Hollar, the operator of the business, was arrested and charged. Additional charges against Hollar are pending. Two other individuals were at the business and were charged with weapon and drug offenses. Hollar was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $250,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled for July 8.

Investigators with the Hickory Police Department, Long View Police Department, and Catawba County Sheriff’s Office along with Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, and North Carolina DMV License and Theft Bureau contributed to this investigation.
