In addition, the Alexander County Board of Elections reports that 1,256 absentee by mail ballots have also been returned and approved. With the mail-in ballots and the early votes, 8,339 official ballots have been counted. Combining all votes, voter turnout stands at 33.7 percent of the county’s registered voters.
