Woman Killed In Iredell County Crash On Wednesday

A woman was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday on Wilkesboro Highway in Iredell County.

Shannon Nychole Kiger, 34, of Galax, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kiger was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 35-year old Alfred Lee Pike of Millers Creek, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Christopher Scott Compton, 36, of Iredell County, was the driver of the second vehicle
The SUV driven by Pike crossed the center line according to the accident report.

Both Pike and Compton suffered serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals.
