July 11, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Roaring River – On Thursday, July 11, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on Bethany Ford Road near Royal Hill Road. A 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Bethany Ford Road and struck a dog in the roadway. This collision caused the driver to lose control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle overturned, ejecting the driver.

The driver, Fabieus Mark Myers, 55, of Hays, succumbed to his injuries while being transported by EMS to an area hospital.

During the on-scene investigation, Bethany Ford Road was closed in the area for approximately one hour. The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing circumstances in the collision.
