Wilkes County Man Killed In Saturday Accident

January 28, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Millers Creek– On Saturday, January 27, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on NC 16 near Shingle Gap Road. A 2023 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south on NC 16, attempted to pass another southbound vehicle in a no-passing zone, and collided with a 2022 Toyota Tacoma as it was turning left into a parking lot.

The driver of the motorcycle, Tyler David Williams, 23, of Millers Creek, was ejected from the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, Micah Jesse Henry, 44, of Millers Creek, was transported by EMS to Wilkes Medical Center, with minor injuries.

NC 16 was partially closed in the area for approximately 1 hour during the on-scene investigation. The initial investigation does not indicate impairment to be a contributing factor in the collision. No charges will be filed in this case.
