Wilkes County Man Dies After Accidental Shooting

A Wilkes County man died after he accidentally shot himself with a 9mm handgun on February 22nd according to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.

Benjamin Russell Calloway, 70, of Moravian Falls was shot when the weapon fell out of a golf bag according to reports. The bullet hit a main artery and caused severe bleeding.

Moravian Falls Fire Department first responders and Wilkes Emergency Medical Service responded Calloway but Calloway was pronounced dead on the scene.
