Wilkes County Man Charged With Murder Of Wife

A man from Wilkes County man has been charged with the murder of his wife.

David Andrew Cheek, age 42 of Ronda, was arrested on Saturday, July 20th and charged with the first-degree murder of 44-year old Leslie Marie Cheek.

Wilkes County Sheriff’s Deputies and Elkin Police were called the couple’s residence on Hilltop Circle in Ronda. The victim’s body was found in a nearby creek. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Cheek is being held in the Wilkes County Jail without bond. A check of Wilkes County Court documents show that Cheek has a previous charge of driving while impaired awaiting trial.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.
