Billy Jay Walker
Around 12:03 am, Wilkesboro Police received a report of a reckless driver on Highway 421 West.
The vehicle was spotted near the Highway 268 overpass. The driver accelerated when Officers activated blue lights and siren. The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office joined in the pursuit. The roadway was blocked and stop-sticks deployed which brought the driver, 40-year old Billy Jay Walker of McGrady to stop.
He’s charged with fleeing to elude arrest, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, careless and reckless driving, driving left of center, improper use of lane, exceeding the posted speed limit and failure to wear a seat belt. Walker was placed in the Wilkes County Detention Center with a secured bond of $50,000.
