Wilkes County Deputies Kill Suspect In Shootout !

Wilkes Sheriff’s Office Deputies shot and killed a man on Sunday night, October 20, after he reportedly fired at the officers.

Wiley Jarvis Casstevens, 53, died at the scene of the shooting at 442 Armstrong Road Jonesville, according to Wilkes Sheriff Chris Shew.

Castenevens was wanted on a number of charges. Deputies had information as to his whereabouts.

As officers were attempting to execute an arrest warrant, Casstevens started firing at Deputies . The officers returned fire striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Carolina SBI has taken over the investigation and the Deputies by policy, have been placed on administrative leave pending the inquiry.

The number of Deputies who fired at the suspect has not been released.
