Olin: Jeremiah Whitaker scored three second-half touchdowns and ran for 213 yards on 13 carries Friday night as Alexander Central beat North Iredell.
Whitaker would score from 50, 64 and the clincher from the 6 yard-line with 3:53 left in the 4th quarter. He averaged 16 yards per carry on the night.
Wade Queen returned a punt 67 yards to open the scoring in the first quarter. North Iredell would pull even in the second period on a Pete Jackson 1-yard run. The Raiders would take the lead when Kaleb Sales hit Julian Haneo from 16 yards, the kick was blocked giving North a 13-7 edge.
From that point forward, Whitaker took over. ACHS rushed for 384 yards and passed for 40.
North Iredell managed 383 yards led by QB Kaleb Sales 130 yards rushing and 167 passing.
Alexander Central improves to 2-1 and will visit Cleveland County next Friday for a battle against Burns.
North drops to 0-2.
