“Where do I go vote on Election Day?”
County Boards of Elections hear that question hundreds if not thousands of times.
With Election Day approaching, Tuesday November 5, we hope this provides some insightful information for voters to avoid some common headaches and frustrations.
On Election day, Alexander County has 10 election day precinct voting places open 6:30 am until 7:30 pm. Every registered voter in Alexander County has an assigned voting place on Election Day. A election day voting place assignment is based on a voter’s residence address. The rules for election day voting are different from early voting. During the early voting period, a voter could have gone to any of the 3 early voting sites that were open in the county. However, on election day, a voter must go to their specifically assigned precinct voting place. Election day workers
Voters can easily find themselves at the wrong voting place on election day if they aren’t sure of their precinct assignment. More often than not, the site you voted early at in a previous election is not also your assigned election day voting place.
Election Day Voters should take proactive steps to avoid this common frustration experienced on election day. Voters can verify their assigned election day precinct polling place by using the online voter search tool or contact the board of elections office 828-632-2990
