West Wilkes Names New Football Coach

February 26, 2019 By Richard C. Gilbert

West Wilkes has filled their Football Head Coaching vacancy. The Blackhawks announced Friday that 55-year-old Todd Rutz will take over the program. Rutz is already the school’s director of athletics.

Rutz replaces David Hunt who resigned in December after six seasons. The team went 3-8 in 2018 including 0-7 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Rutz has some 32 years of high school football coaching experience including offensive line coach with West Wilkes since 2015.
