Boone: Watauga defeated the Alexander Central women Wednesday night and cemented their lead atop the Northwestern Conference Women’s Basketball standings.
ACHS led 12-7 after the first quarter and still had a one-point lead at half. The third-period decided the contest as the Lady Pioneers took the quarter 22-11.
Kate Sears led Watauga with 19 points. The duo of Meredith Wike and Kirstyn Herman paced the Lady Cougars with 17 and 13.
Watauga is 14-3 and 3-0 in league play. Alexander Central is now 16-2 and 2-2.

The final score indicates a rout and that’s what it was. Watauga stormed out to a 38-21 lead at halftime in a game the Cougars never took the lead.
Wyatt Kohout led the Pioneer scoring parade with 22 including 4 three-point baskets.
Chad Lasher was the only AC player in double figures with 15.
Watauga improves to 13-4 and 3-0. The Blue and Gold slips to 7-11 and 1-3.
