Virginia Woman Charged With Child Abduction In Wilkes County

A runaway juvenile was safely located, and a Virginia woman was arrested following a multi-agency investigation, according to Wilkes Community College Police.

Lauren Elizabeth Nunley, 33, of Radford, Va., was arrested by authorities in Virginia with abduction of children in connection with the investigation. She remains in the Wilkes County Jail with no bond.

On February 12, the WCC Police Department responded to a report of a runaway juvenile from the Wilkes Early College High School. Officers immediately initiated efforts to locate the student and began coordinating with partner agencies to ensure the juvenile’s safety. The juvenile was located and charges filed by Wilkes Community College Police.

Due to age, details about the student have not been released.
