Alexander Central’s search for a new football coach is entering the next phase.
Butch Carter announced his retirement after nine seasons in Taylorsville on January 9th.
The vacancy has created a lot of interest. “We received a lot of applications” said ACHS Principal Jacob Lail on Thursday. “We want to get the right one and now we’re into the interview process, it will continue into next week. The hope is that we will have a recommendation for the Board of Education for their February meeting.” Lail declined to comment on the search committee that he is working with.
Alexander County School Superintendent Dr Bill Griffin said this week a recommendation will be given to him and ultimately to the Board. Griffin said on Wednesday “It’s a big hire with a lot of interest because people know this is a great community. People care about our football program and I trust Mr Lail to get it right.”
