December 17, 2018 By Richard C. Gilbert

An update has been released by Alexander County Schools

West Alexander Middle School bus 159 overturned this morning around 7:30 a.m. near Icard Ridge Road and Bulldog Lane.  A second vehicle was involved in the accident and it has been reported that the driver has been charged with a DWI.

Nineteen students were on the bus; thirteen were transported to area hospitals as well as the bus driver.  All students, except two, have been released from the hospitals.  The two students who were later transported to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem are in stable condition.
