Two Year-Old Struck And Killed In Wilkes County

A 2-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and killed in Wilkes County Thursday night.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run happened around 8:30 p.m. on Traphill Road . Atticus Stamey was hit by a vehicle possibly traveling north on Traphill Road.

Troopers say the boy wandered away from his residence and was located by family members along the roadway.

The child was taken Wilkes Medical Center where he was declared dead a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing with no charges filed so far.
