The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a drug interdiction this past Saturday, where two Georgia residents were found in possession of nine (9) kilos of methamphetamine. This narcotics seizure occurred in the parking lot of the Loves Travel Stop on Hwy 10 West around 11:00 a.m. Two suspects were taken into custody.
Garry Michael Turpin, a Norcross GA resident, was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering Controlled Substance. Turpin, 47, received a $150,000.00 secured bond and had a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 10/09/2023.
Kristy Lee Ashley, a Norcross GA resident, was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering Controlled Substance. Lee, 41, received a $150,000.00 secured bond and had a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 10/09/2023.
The Hickory Police Department and Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this interdiction.
