North Carolina Forest Service Ranger David Huffman says there were two significant brush fires on Friday in Alexander County !
The first charred four to five acres off Poplar Spring Road in the Hiddenite area. Multiple units and the NC Forest Service was able to contain the fire.
Another fire consumed two to three acres of heavily wooded terrain in the Ellendale Community off McDonald Drive. An aircraft monitored both fires.
Huffman say the wind, low humidity and dry fuels (despite recent ice and snow) atop the ground contributed to the fires.
