Two Charged In Burke County Murder investigation

On Friday August 22, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3105 NC 126 in reference to a cardiac arrest. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a deceased male. Evidence led to a homicide investigation.

Investigators identified two suspects, Chad Allen MacJarrett, age 27 and 26-year-old Donaven James Purcell, who were subsequently taken into custody. Both are charged with one count of Second Degree Murder.

The suspects are being held without bond. The dentification of the victim is being withheld at this time pending family notification.

Investigators are working with the District Attorney’s Office, and the investigation is ongoing.
