Troutman Woman Killed In Tuesday Crash

October 17, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

The Troutman Police Department has released the name of a woman who was killed in an accident on Tuesday.

On 10/15/2024 at approximately 12:59 pm a vehicle driven by Mildred Jones, 85 of Troutman, turned left from Autumn Leaf Road into the path of a dump truck traveling south on South Main Street, resulting in a collision between the vehicles. The dump truck then rolled onto its passenger side where it struck a truck pulling a trailer waiting to turn left from South Main Street onto Autumn Leaf Road.

This second collision resulted in the truck and trailer being forced back into a Troutman Police Department patrol vehicle that was waiting in traffic behind the truck. As a result of the collision Mildred Jones and her passenger, Kenneth Jones, 87 of Troutman, suffered serious injuries and were transported to area medical centers.

The driver of the dump truck, William Wallace, 46 of Hudson, NC, was also transported to a medical center. Upon arrival at the hospital, Mildred Jones succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
