Three Charged After Christmas Crime Spree

December 28, 2018 By Richard C. Gilbert

Three people are facing charges after a crime spree over the Christmas Holiday in Wilkes and Yadkin Counties. A convenience store was held-up and money was taken in Yadkin and a similar heist was reported at a location in Wilkes County. There was also an attempted robbery at a Dollar General store near Yadkinville.

Mona Lisa Mullins

One of the three charged in connection with the crimes is 18 year old Mona Lisa Mullins of Wilkes County. Mullins was already awaiting trial on charges of obstruction of justice and drug possession in the May 21st case in which N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Samuel N. Bullard of Wilkes County wrecked on Interstate 77 and died.

Mullins was charged because she was a passenger in the car driven by Dakota Whitt, 23, of Elkin. Bullard and another trooper were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint on I-77 when the BMW driven by Whitt fled the checkpoint and was pursued.
