67-year old Frank Lynn Moody faces felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, injuring wires and fixtures of utility companies, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Wednesday evening, Lenoir Police were informed of a truck stolen in the 2400 block of Wilkesboro Boulevard. It was learned that a Spectrum employee was servicing lines and hoisted above ground at the time of the theft.
The suspect, Frank Lynn Moody is reported to have traveled a short distance before striking an overhanging utility line, which caused a utility pole to break. The vehicle continued for a short distance before coming to a stop off the roadway. During the incident, the utility worker fell from the bucket and sustained non-life threatening injuries. A large swath of Caldwell County suffered the loss of internet, cable and phone service.
Moody is being held in the custody of the Caldwell County Detention Center with a secured bond set at $100,000. Reports indicate that Moody had been released from jail earlier in the day.
