Third Suspect Arrested For Statesville Murder

Statesville Police say a third suspect wanted for murder is now in custody.

On Tuesday the United States Marshall Service, with the assistance of Carolina’s Regional Task Force, conducted search warrants on two residences in Beckley, West Virginia. During the execution of the search warrants, Javis Black, 22 of Statesville, was apprehended and taken into custody without incident. Black was wanted for the homicide of Zion S. Wilder and the Attempted Murder of a juvenile, who is still currently in critical condition.

On Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 10:01pm, the Statesville Police Department responded to a call for shots fired on Goldsboro Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located subjects advising that subjects in the house had been shot. Upon entering the residence, officers located Zion Wilder, 19 of Statesville, deceased on the floor from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A second victim, a 15-year-old male from Statesville, was also located inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

On Friday, March 17th Statesville Police say US Federal Marshalls arrested Tevin D. Seymore of Statesville in Charleston, WV. Seymore is being held without bond and is awaiting extradition back to Iredell County on the counts of Murder, Attempted Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, Felony Conspiracy, Assault with 22a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Possession of Firearm by Felon.

Dakota Michael Duke

On Saturday, March 18th, 25-year old Dakota Michael Duke was arrested by Statesville Police Officers and charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, Felony Conspiracy, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and Possession of Firearm by Felon.
