Thanks To First Responders And Firefighters !

January 13, 2019 By Richard C. Gilbert

It’s been a busy day and night for Alexander County First Responders and Volunteer Firefighters. The Ice Storm brought down many trees and or limbs across the county and according to County Emergency Management Director, Russell Greene, “We’ve had people step up.” Greene says that since midnight, Alexander County Firefighters and First Responders have been dispatched 78 times, 70 of which to remove trees or limbs from roadways. “We just couldn’t make it without them, they’ve done a tremendous job” Greene said this afternoon.

Although, some more icing is possible this evening, it appears the worst of the storm has passed. Both Duke Energy and Energy United crews have been busy responding to scattered outages across the area.
