
Toland Huff Jr
18-year old Toland Huff Jr. is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm in the city limits. The charges are related to a shooting in Hickory on Monday, April 3rd.
Around 10:30 on Monday, a Hickory officer heard multiple gunshots in the area of the 900 block of South Center Street. Upon arriving in the area, the officer was advised that 18-year-old Niquezion Shuford was hiding inside the Dana Mini Mart at 935 South Center St. Shuford, who was not injured, and witnesses advised that a light-colored SUV pulled up beside Shuford as he was walking in the area.
Witnesses identified Huff as a passenger in the SUV. They say he exited the vehicle and fired shots with a rifle as Shuford fled on foot.
Huff was free on bond for attempted attempted murder. The earlier shooting took place in Hickory on March 14th. There were no injuries in that shooting either.
Huff is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a $200,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 10th in Newton.
