On Friday, August 8, at approximately 2:54 PM, the Taylorsville Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious person at Crest Knoll Apartments on NC Highway 16 North.
Officers were advised that a male had been repeatedly entering and exiting the main office and roaming the property. The individual was identified as 50-year-old Tommy Wesley Parsons of Granite Falls.
Upon making contact, Officers learned Parsons had an order for arrest for failing to appear in court on prior traffic charges. When informed, Parsons resisted arrest and fought with officers. After being placed in handcuffs, he attempted to flee on foot before being secured in a patrol car.
Parsons was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he began spitting on and assaulting officers and detention staff. To prevent further assaults, a Taylorsville Police Officer deployed a taser. Parsons was then transported to a nearby hospital for medical clearance due to his continued combative behavior, which included assaulting members of Alexander County EMS.
Later Friday evening, at approximately 8:41 PM, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call at Crest Knoll Apartments related to the earlier incident. Parsons had previously used a Toyota Tundra without the registered owner’s permission. Officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and, after obtaining the owner’s consent, conducted a search.
