Dallas James McDaniel Jr
A Taylorsville man’s courtroom slumber has resulted in him being sent to jail.
On Monday, 22-year old Dallas James McDaniel was in Alexander County District Court. He was scheduled to appear on felony breaking and entering and larceny charges stemming from a December arrest by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.
McDaniel nodded off while waiting for his name to be called. He began to snore…loudly. So loudly, it could be heard by the judge who ordered him awakened. McDaniel was brought to the bench and cited for contempt of court and ordered to serve a sentence of 15 days in the County Detention Center. He was apparently in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his nap, those charges are pending awaiting tests to determine the type of narcotic.
His previous charges were continued.
McDaniel has a long list of pending charges awaiting trial in Caldwell and Catawba Counties. They include multiple counts of larceny, possession of stolen goods and second-degree trespass.
